  • Surgery for me this Thurs.

I will be getting Laser Phlebectomy done this Thurs on my right leg.  Basically one of the vein that runs all the way from my inner thigh down to my ankle is damaged to the point that it is 3X bigger than it should be.  (It has been this way since my pregnancy with my 9 yo).  Instead of traveling back up to my heart it causes blood to pool in the front of my calf and has formed a large painful thrombosis.  Due to ins issues, pregnancies, nursing etc- I have just lived with the pain and wore a pressure stocking.  But on Thurs they will be threading a laser down from the top of my thigh- into the vein- all the way to where it ends at my ankle- as they pull it out the lazer will "kill" the vein.
I am pretty nervous- I have never done an "elective" procedure before.  The paperwork says I cane do light walking the same day as the surgery, and need to keep the compression dressing on for 3 days.  And the huge full leg compression stocking for 3-4 weeks.  No spa or pool for 2 weeks.

I hope it works to stop the pain- cause the recovery stuff is going to be a pain in my rear.

I should take some before and after shots huh?  But does anyone really want to see my gross, throbbing, ugly, thrombosis?
