I did, I had to because I'm pregnant. I've never had the shot or the flu before and it hurt!
Nope - but I am definitely not against it!
Nope. I refused the shot last year for my son and I will be refusing it again this year if they offer it to him. Here is an link to an interesting conversation between a man and someone who works at one of the companies that manufacture the flu shot.
@ECULadybug2003@xanga - Interesting that you "had" to get a flu shot b/c you are pregnant. Is that pretty normal b/c when I was pregnant my mid-wife to me NOT to get a flu shot BECAUSE I was pregnant?
Yes I believe in them. I work at a hospital and the one year I DIDN'T get a flu shot I was sick sick sick - missed a week of work!
No, nor do I plan to.
I have a new baby at home (< 1 month old) and my pediatrician strongly recommended everyone in my family get a shot to decrease the chances of our littlest one getting the flu. So, me, my husband, and my 13 months old all got flu shots.
Not yet......
My mom did a few weeks ago. (Ugh! Nearly $30 because our insurance doesn't cover them.)
And after my recent doctor's visit, he told me I HAVE to get one, no choice.
Both boys have gotton their flui shots. They both have asthma so their doctor recommends it. I work in the hospital so I'm getting mine.
@sunshinekl@xanga - Now that I watched the video about flu shots, maybe I won't.......
My husband's doctor told him to get one since we have a baby. He got one and turned out fine. Idk why people freak out about flu shots. BUT! I know i don't really want one. I might, if it's to protect my baby against it more efficiently. BUTTTTT ugh. I'd rather just take the chance of getting it. I haven't had the flu since i was like 8. lol.
My husband has MS and the flu can cause an exacerbation or make one worse, so everyone in our family is getting one. That includes me, my husband who is terrified of needles, and my boys (10 mos. & 2.5 yrs) got their this week.
Noo.
@sunshinekl@xanga - I had to have the shot because I have a military doctor and it's required for pregnant women past the 1st trimester. Also I found out a lot of health care and child care related jobs require the flu shot.
Nope. They are highly overrated for healthy people and actually lower your immune system.
I did, and so did my breastfeeding baby, by way of my breastmilk.
My daughter already got her flu shot at her last doctor's visit. Though I did ask if it was mercury-free because I don't like what I've been hearing about the ones with mercury. I still have to get one for myself, I'll see about it at my next doctor's visit.
@God_rox7@xanga - If the flu shot really works why is it important that the whole family gets one rather than just your hubby who has MS? I would think he would be protected with his own flu vaccination.
I did this year but I dont think I will be again.
@ECULadybug2003@xanga - OK. I didn't know that the military required that of pregnant women. Thanks for the info.
No, our family will not be getting it this year. I don't believe falling for scare tactics that trickle down from our government.
@HeartWomb@xanga - You make a good point, and I never really thought about it from that point of view. Him getting the flu shot on his own might/should be sufficient but we don't take chances. I know they aren't 100% effective but we do what we can. My husband having an attack or making one worse because he got the flu affects the entire family. I'd rather do this one little thing (my boys were fine after two minutes and had no side affects from them) than risk it. Does that make sense?
Yes, hubby and I and our two oldest kids all got flu shots. (the baby is too little)
